YR5 KRL 869L
« on: January 07, 2021, 02:48:47 PM »
It doesn't show up on the DVLA website, but you never know, KRL 869L might be languishing in someone's garage somewhere?
Was a great bike - went like the proverbial and gave me 3 SP30s!

Previous bikes YR5 (x2), KH250, GT185, DT250, AP50 & YDS7.

This was it shortly before I sold it in 1981.

Yes, but it obviously travelled about a bit.
I bought it in Knebworth, Hertfordshire in 1978 and sold in in Catford, South East London three years later.

Yes, they were great and released quite a lot of extra power. But they were so noisy they acted as a police magnet!
After the third booking I realised it was time to move on and sold the R5 to buy my GT750.

Amazing what you find out , I asked my mate Geoff from Bude if he knew trhe bike back in the day , but he did not (I put your pics on biker 70/80 page on facebook to see if anyone knows of it there ) anyhow Geoff said no but I had a yds7 bought from another mutual friend CFJ76L I chopped it in at Exeter for a CB500 , I looked up the YDS7 on DVLA it is still taxed as a YAMAHA but the engine size is now 650cc
