what If the first three digits of a part number differ?
« on: November 24, 2020, 12:06:18 PM »
I have read the first 3 digits are the model of the bike but are the rest the part itself?
Jut asking as I have found a part but the first 3 digits are not the same, one is TA125 part number and the other an XS1
256-26243-00  XS1
400-26243-00  TA125
The XS1 and TA125 have the same upper throttle body part number the lower body is one digit difference and the two parts numbers above are the throttle tube.
I have bought the upper and lower throttle bodies but now need the throttle tube.
Thanks
Ady

Afternoon Ady.

You've sort of answered the question yourself.

The first three numbers/characters are the model that the part was first fitted to - if subsequent models used this part, it won't change.

The next five determine the type of part - speedo, tacho, exhaust etc. If a part is one half of a two part fitment, or one is for the left side and one for the right, then the numbers may well only have one character different (eg left and right silencers).

Ok thank you I have now ordered all three parts so hopefully I will have a complete throttle body when they arrive.
