Hi, i noticed that you are one of the only people on the site that has actually mentioned the rd50. I"m glad your one of the ones that hasnt forgotten the bike. I"m 16 and currently ride one as my first bike and i can say i am very very please with it.

And so you should - its a cracking little bike. Nearly all off us on this site are "old" so we have gone past the 50cc stage.

Define "OLD"! I am 56 but my father is 91! I learned to ride on a Bridgestone 100 Sport. My father learned to ride on a 1928 Douglas... I now have a Bridgestone 90 Deluxe plus several other "older" machine dating back to 1926 BUT I want an OLD bike; something about 1912 would be good. It is interesting riding bikes through the decades; you think an RD350 is fast then you hop on a 2001 Aprilia RS250 Replica & discover a new level of fast! Then get on a 1948 Black Shadow & fast means something entirely different.

Stevie, I know that the RD60 will outrun an MB5, and since the 50 is a whopping 4cc smaller (so much for truth in advertising), it should be dead level with the MB.  The RD will also leave the AR50 for dead.  Now against such powerhouses as the NS50 or DT50LC, the little RD will hold it"s own but will be bringing up the rear.  I raced my first RD60 in a YSR & mini GP class and whupped "em all - might have been the rider, but I doubt it.

I loved my old RD50MX, got my first ever points from the old bill on it back in the day, it was a little de-restricted   but my points were for having a pilion

Those indicators look massive on the little bike, as do the reflectors. The wind resistance would probably knock a good 3-4 mph off the top end.  It is cute though.

hi there rd-ers.i have a ysr rd 50 its a great little bike now im getting on.lol.(61) unrestricted Japanese import. does anyone have or know where I might get the worm drive gear for arev counter I have arev counter off the 80cc.

Having checked the YSR80 on CMSNL, it looks like it is a well used Yamaha part, number 214-17841-01 and there are plenty on ebay.

Just double check yourself to make sure that I haven't misunderstood your query!

old is something born before you and older is something born before your dad  :) and fast is defined on how quickly you can stop  ;D
Unfortunately it boils down to power to weight ratio....................
Not the weight of the bike but the rider :o.
Most "old" riders weigh a lot more than they did at 16, plus all the safety gear we wear now, when it was T shirt and cut down jeans in summer  :'(
