Paint codes/advice
« on: March 31, 2010, 11:38:35 AM »
Hi all, its that paint code question again.

I am taking 3 sets to get painted in the next couple of weeks but need the codes for the paint or the modern available ones.

So I see Diamond white is? the accepted white but what is the Yamaha proper code and is this recognised at modern suppliers?

Hope that makes sense so....what should I ask for ...

White...

Yellow...

Low gloss black..

All are for 400 e/f

Thanks

Dom

none of the yamaha paint codes are recognised by any of the uk paint suppliers

you would need to get the colour matched if you have a panel to supply

Surely that has been done by members already?

Someone must know the nearest modern equivelent or is it a secret the forum painters wont disclose?

If we all do that ( not share info ) restorations will take twice as long.

Its a subject that has needed sorting for a long time.

We could do with a clear list of the modern "easy buy" equivilents to the old colours

Custom Painter knows all the paint info but not sure if he will share it.

PM him.

I will have a word with him and see what he says.

The problem is this is his living and sharing the info will cost him business.

I am sure it has taken him many years to find this information.

I dont think it would cost Tony Business, He has a reputation that he has built up through quality work.

I would not stop telling someone how to Hang a door it they wanted to do try themself, but I know they wouldnt do it as good as me, and I wouldnt lose work because of It, Because they would have a go anyway?
