Any idea how much one of costs nowadays Steve? The idea was originally to make moto3 more affordable than the 125's bet they cost as much or more now!!

Yep Moto3 is still cheaper than a top 125 bike was, back in the day
The main reason for this is, now the organisers (IRTA) mandate the purchase price and the individual price for every componant from the engine and chasis. So basically Honda/KTM are told the maximum price they can sell them for
Back in the day, the 125's were outragiously expensive, to both lease from the supplier (Honda or Aprillia), and eye wateringly expensive to run. As an example, the 125 engines were rebuilt 6 times per race weekend (basically after every session), and a rebuild was everything stripped down and rebuilt.
Now, the engines are supplied to the teams from IRTA (not KTM/Honda/Mahindra) to make sure they are all the same with no 'specials' for favoured riders. And they have to make 5 engines last the whole season without rebuilds or strip downs, because all the engines are sealed by IRTA before supplying them to teams.
Dont know what the current price is, but i would guess it is around 300,000 Euros.
