I have virtually nil parts stored away.

Bike is presently off road and will have to buy / re-use all parts.

Except for one clutch case gasket

Not many owners in the club ride showroom standard bikes.

Most ride mechanically sound bikes and are perfectly happy.
No members should think they have to restore showroom standards.

That's fair enough bud, the problems people get into are when you have restore/renew a knackered part, particularly if it's largely cosmetic, it tends to make the adjacent parts look cack    Then they have a dimemna of when to stop - and before you know it the bloody thing is in bits... 

If it's a normal rider/survivor it's probably best not to restore any of it, and try to get any replacement parts as usuble secondhand ones to maintain the overall (I hate this term  ) 'patina'....  Also unmolested survivors are where the money's going to be in the future anyway 

If I ever get lucky to find an rider/unmolested survivor, I would leave it alone and enjoy it for what it is, trouble is all my resto's come out of skips and putting them back on the road in 'as new' condition is a buzz all in itself

The photograph size is limited if they are hosted on this site, but if you use Photobucket you can then do a link from Photobucket so the pictures appear here but you do not have to reduce the size of them

Whilst I am not a Facebook user, I would have thought you could also put them on Facebook and post a link here, I think Del has done that several times

Hi Del, I've finally decided to restore a box of parts that I've owned since the late 90's which should form a 1982 RD200DX.

I was given the bike when helping someone clear some stuff when they moved and it's been stored in various sheds and lately at the back of my workshop. about 10 years ago it suffered some fire damage when the dozy woman next door set fire to my shed (don't ask!). Hopefully some pictures are attached. Apologies as I read that you're not keen on piles of bits but the parts are currently separated between buildings so I only appear in one.

I hope to complete it before I die.

Hello All

I have just joined the club after fulfilling my dream to once again own an 1973 RD350. I owned from new when but a lad and recently obtained one through Ebay. I remember hammering round the TT course back in 1974. Amazing memories.

The RD has matching engine and frame numbers, 15,000 on the clock and it is a US import! The bike needs a lot of work to get back to its original condition.  I have been amazed already how easy it is through ebay to obtain replacement parts but am already aware of the problem parts to find. Exhausts and airbox's so far are proving difficult. 

The bike needs registering so am about to have it MOT'd to commence the procedure.

This will not be a concourse restore as I want to be able to ride the bike and not just make it a museum piece. I will attach photos later of the build. Not sure if engine needs a complete rebuild...................................

Looking forward to meeting you all at forthcoming rallies. I will not be bringing it on a trailer!

Is the BMF still running at Peterborough as I live quite close.

I am just in the final stages of completing my 250C and have started a resto thread and in the process of writing it up. I have pictures of the Bike I purchased but do not have one of me with it, prior to breaking it to pieces and making good. It is a 76C German Matching Nos.

I will be adding more detail and pictures over the next couple of weeks and happy to be used in the magazine, trust you will do your magic with the editor bit. If you need higher definition pictures later let me know please which ones and I will email them over.

Just picked up this RD400 Daytona Special 1979 in Australia, the bike was offered to me 18 months ago for $4000 the owner got into cash flow problems and i managed to get it for a bargain $400 this week.
Full restoration will be started after i return from a trip back to the UK next week to catch up with family, i've ordered all the heavy bit needed to be delivered to my brothers house and will be bringing them back on the plane to save a bit on postage.
It will join my RD400F and my RD350LC both fully restored.

Just got it home today. '76 RD400. Tins are chappy red, but I think they will turn geneva green. Most of it there, but notice the black bin with yellow top? Basket case. At least the engine appears to be mostly together. I tried starting a resto diary thread, but it doesn't show.

No room in the inn for it right now - garage has four GoldWings in it. It will go in after a couple things get swapped around. Meanwhile, it rests with the tractors.

It’s been a few weeks since my last pos bought I’d share pictures of my wheels now rebuilt. Had a delay due to central wheels sending wrong spokes for model (all inners!).
Fare dues replacements sent overnight. A big thankyou to Rick a at KB Wheels they look good. Rubber now on and brakes/bearings fitted. Hopefully moving on to assembly of frame and rolling chassis. The frame has been powder coated by Hindley engineering. I have a missing spacer for wheel adjustment  (168-25386) anyone got one!
Second mortgage with Yambits . Just found that the R/H engine case has been repaired around the kickstart oil seal so replacement sort on eBay  .
