Look what I caught parked outside our house!
« on: April 11, 2021, 06:37:31 PM »
Casually perusing the forum mid afternoon today (Sunday), and my bat like ears picked up the unmistakable sound of a two stroke twin. Hopped up out of my chair to see what it was, presuming it would just drive past the house, when I see an RD250C (or so I thought)  stop right outside, turn around, and go into the vicarage!  :o :D Anyways, it didn't stay there, and it came out and parked up right outside our place.

Sensing an opportunity to talk RD bollox to someone, I went out, started chatting and the rider's interest perked up when I mentioned there were 11 bikes, including 5 RDs, in the garage opposite.

Turns out that it was a club member called John, from the Bath area, out for a trip on his RD400, albeit it was wearing 250 livery. He doesn't come on to the forum, but he does go to the Derby rally and the Isle of Wight run.

Photo of the bike in our drive is attached.

Like you my ears are always listening for the gorgeous sound of a two stroke twin or triple burbling down our road, quickly followed by a mad dash to a window to see what has gone past

Yes, nice chap John is. Always rides to the Rally from his home & his RD400 used to wear a lovely pair of Higgspeed pipes. Been on a couple of ride outs with him at the Rally.

Yes - he said the Higgspeeds were too loud for him!  :o :D

All he wanted to do was sit on the bench by the war memorial for a few minutes, but instead he got me buttonholing him!  :D
