rd rally enthusiasts
« on: July 09, 2022, 03:08:46 PM »
just got back from the rally as a saturday visitor.

had a look at the shiny bikes on show

i realised i had a problem with my rd and got my tool kit out to fix it.

not one single person asked me if i needed any help.

it was obvious i was fixing it. i can assume it was because my bike is a real used one and no one wanted to get near it.

not impressed with the lack of rd commoradary

Sorry to hear that. Personally i didn't see anyone with spanners out, but if i had I'd have certainly asked if you'd wanted help. Did you sort the problem to get home again, I hope?? :( :(

You should have come to find me after our chat at the line up and I would of helped out. From my experience many would help a person with a problem including helping with spares etc even those with shiney bikes.

i did manage to get home.
i was at the entrance so everyone coming and going would have seen me.

i looked round for a friendly face but bikes were going out on a run.

I have broken my bike at the rally more times than i can remember and probably never fixed it myself. Others just sort it for me.
I broke down at Lady Bower once and that's over 1 hours drive away. A member jumped in his van and collected myself and my bike aster riding back to rally site first.
I am sure if they had realised then someone would of helped but if they were all leaving for the ride no one would of wanted to be left behind.

People may have thought you had it all in hand. I guess asking someone for help would have been a good idea. Even if the person you asked couldn't help, I think they would have pointed you to someone who could.
I saw one guy who'd got a puncture on his way up. He had a gaggle of bikers around him  :)

Sorry that was your experience. Anyone in our little crew would have helped if they'd of known. I loaded my van up with tools, fluids and odds and ends for just such instances.

I did not see anyone messing with a bike near the entrance, unless it all happened while I was out???   I would help anyone who needed a hand.
