Are Hepolite Rings compatible with Yamaha Pistons or do they only fit Hepolite pistons?

Unless you can find some hepolite sales info that specifically references their part number as a replacement, I’d say the answer is to assume not…
Almost fitting and correctly fitting, would require you to measure both rings very carefully back to back..
Hepolite generally sold piston kits… I don’t actually recall being able to buy rings by themselves as a replacement.

Sorry that’s not a definitive answer but considering how pear shaped it could go if you get it wrong, I’d play safe..

Agree with Peter, Hepolite sold them as kits, very good quality , I have their 1015 Kawasaki Z1000 piston kit in my rebored 76 Kawasaki Z900 , working perfectly for 20+ years. I bought them from Pistons & Components in Glasgow .....long gone now.

Thanks for the feedback gents. I had also assumed that they were incompatible, but read this statement on an ebay listing recently which got me doubting, and therefore asking the question.

YOU ARE BIDDING ON AN A STANDARD ENGINE PISTON RING SET SUITABLE FOR YAMAHA RD250A-B-S ROAD MACHINES 1971-75

ORIGINAL YAMAHA PART NUMBER WOULD BE 361-11631-22 - 54.5mm ---- THESE RINGS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH AND DESIGNED TO  FIT ORIGINAL YAMAHA PISTONS & HEPOLITE PISTONS

HEPOLITE PART NUMBER IS R28080/020    DYKES TOP RING & SECOND RING WITH SPREADER

This is ebay user Britishbikedoctor with over 63k positive feedback. No bad feedback regarding hepolite rings.

I haven't found any other information, so I guess the jury is still out.

He may well be correct … but I’d scroll by anyone who thinks there was an RD in 1971…
