Side Panel Decals
« on: May 23, 2023, 07:47:20 PM »
Hi, for the 1980 2R7 cast wheel RD200DX, should the two 0s in the 200 on the side panels be filled in (black) or open? I have both types of decal but not sure which to use. I have a coloured sales brochure but not sure which year it is from. Thank you, Gavin

Interesting question, Gavin!  :-\

I think what I would do is to look on fleabay for side panels and oil tanks, both for sale and sold, which have your colour and paint scheme and are obviously original and unrestored - hopefully there will be a consistency in which graphics were used. You could expand your image search to the internet in general if fleabay doesn't provide the answer. Brochures have been known to be "wrong".

Dels model guides in hot topics have brochure pics in them should be a fair guide

Thank you Gr8uncleal, RogerDodger and Mervin. The ones with the V slash are very late model style. I recall Mr Crip (on here) changed his from the filled in 00s to the open 00s on his 1979 white/red RD200DX. I think that is where I am at, but will look at the brochures on Hot Topics as you suggest. I have been lucky to find a genuine Yam tank that has not been on a bike for over fourty years. Best wishes, Gavin
