« on: August 19, 2022, 10:19:13 AM »
Hi I am restoring a RD250D, can anyone tell me what black paint I should use for H/light shell, speedo- tacho bodies, H/light ears and alloy wheels.

I used used U Pol black gloss for everything you need and U pol Satin black for the wheels . Undercoated everything with U Pol etch primer first for best results .
All bought from eBay.

Note 250D wheels should bare alloy for original finish but I have a Yellow 250D and prefer the look that the E/F wheels have.

Thanks Mally, I wasn't sure if only the early 250D had bare alloys with the later being painted.

I think they may look better painted so I shall try U pol satin, I have painted the engine with JT1 satin and it has come out Matt so I was unsure of satin for the wheels.

No worries , both finishes look great on mine . Just noticed you are doing speedo and tacho bodies ,think they should be satin not gloss also.

from memory having had a new 250D back in the day a general rule of thumb is steel bits gloss, ally bits low gloss or satinthe exception being the clock cups which are satin ,
