It will be well worth the effort and time.
You can be at Ballaugh bridge and watch the bikes jump and also good fun if you get any laps in,then there is a backroad that can take you down to the Sulby crossing and watch the bikes come past the Sulby Glen Hotel(great home made food here

)and you will never see the big bikes with their engines wide open as long any where else and be stunned how fast and close they are,then another backroad down to parliament square to watch the last of the late brakers come through the square and out towards the ramsay hairpin.
All very close mileagewise and easily done in a afternoon when the the racing is actually going on without thrashing about.
Something everyone should experience in their lifetime if possible before nanny state wraps us all in bubblewrap.
