regulator & brushes wiring 400c

Still having charging problems with my 400C

Have a green & brown coming from the regulator going into a plug and coming out as 2 greens! running to the brushes
top bush is the pos ?question is which wire should go to the pos brush
the green<>green
or the brown<>green
hope that makes sense

mine are both green on the bushes do not forget spacers as will blow fuses and make sure brushes are the correct length.

This is the exact problem I'm having. It continues to blow fuses when trying to electric start.  When you say spacers do you mean washers?  If so between the brushes and connector or the brushes and the actual plate?  I haven't been able to figure out why this was happening until I saw your reply.

Insulating washers need to insulate the leads from the plate.

Possibly talking at cross purposes here? 

RD400C does not have electric start. The insulating (ceramic/nylon) washers for the brushes are of a slightly "top hat" variety and the main fuse will blow as soon as the ignition is switched on if these are faulty or not fitted. I could not see these items as being fitted when I looked at the CS3 parts diagram for the starter/generator on CMSNL.

If I have missed something and you, or anyone else, needs some, I will try and attach a link to a previous thread where I was giving away some alternatives.

Makes no difference whatsoever thats why they made them both green. What is crucial is that they are both insulated via plastic washers from earth! Not uncommon for a A or B stator to have been fitted which work differently and will short your solid state regulator to earth as one side is earthed and possibly burn it out.
