2017 Chippy Run
« on: May 22, 2017, 01:05:18 AM »
For the 2017 Friday Chippy Rideout

I offer a choice of a direct route to Ashbourne via narrow roads (with grass in the middle, approx. 18 miles).

Or a route similar to the 2015 Chippy Rideout  (through the old Manifold Railway tunnel, this time avoiding the ford where Phil nearly came a cropper in 2015), of approx. 40 miles.

You choose.  :)

Manifold valley, now that brings some memories back.Used to go there when i dated a girl from Onecote (early 70`s-the year not the girl!). Used to blast through the tunnel on the yds3. what a noise.recall entering the tunnel once with dark visor down-scary moment-never again.

Tibsy - you reminded me!  I had a YDS3 and used to open throttle wide in all the tunnels and it used to howl. Brilliant noise.  Always done it in the Alyesbury bus tunnel - everyone jumped and looked.  Fantastic memories.

Sorry Ken, Chippy rideout  returns to the Rally site about 8pm, ready for the evenings band, so 6.30pm start not an option.

Route should bring us to Hartington around 6:40? Ashbourne before 7:00 and chips Ken.  :D
