Well, I have a 19sec 34mp mp4 vid but, doesn't seem the forum can upload it.  ???

Needless to say, it shows an old bloke on a nice bike, with several other nice bikes and, sounds like a load of angry Hornets are buzzin about!

Aircooled RD Tech Help 250cc and Above / Re: YDS7/YR5 Exhaust baffles

Anyone tried making their own baffles? On the face of it they seem simple bits of pipe with various cut outs and bits knocked in here and there. There's enough photographs around to get an idea of the design specifics. Ok you'd probably need some workshop tools but if there's no alternative ...

Here in the states where we have had the E10 for several decades we learned a few things: Over time, retailers will learn that they can sell 100% gasoline at a premium price, so they install tanks and pumps for it and learn ways past the regulators (but, not in all states). E10 runs fine in fuel injected engines, but should never be put in carbureted engines (chain saws, mowers, tillers, tractors, older ATVs and motorcycles, etc.)  Octane boosters can't make up for the ethanol's habit of pulling moisture from the atmosphere, so if forced to use E10 you really must drain tanks, bowls, and lines after use. I'm lucky enough to live within 3 mile of 87 octane pure gas, and 10 miles of 93 octane pure gas. I fill three 5 gallon cans with fuel stabilizer already installed for use in our outdoor power equipment and occasional motorcycle use when I am too low to be comfortable riding up over the hill to the station.

The tuners in the States tune high performance cars like M3’s etc for E85 to utilise more power from the fuel. E10 isn’t going to make any noticeable difference though.

It’s the attraction of water and corrosion that bothers  me as I have now seen it first hand. My old lawnmower had stood a while, many months with e5 in. I put fresh petrol in and it seemed ok for a while then began cutting out. Pulled the carb bowl off full and couldn’t believe what I saw. It was nearly all water and thick of iron oxide from where I don’t know.

Don’t leave ethanol mixes in your carbs and don’t trust reports of it not being in without testing it. Up to B model owners it’s time to free off the carb bowl bottom plug so you can drain them.

Only a limited number of Morrisons sites will sell an E5 'super' grade fuel so they'll be losing a lot of custom as well. I've attached a txt file with the sites that will be selling E5.

C50 - I'm assuming that you car is E10 compatible (post 2000) and the ECU is probably adjusting things based on various sensor readings so you probably wouldn't notice any change but if I wouldn't want to put it in my Nissan Micra which is most certainy non E10 compatible.

cheers,

Jeff

Yes we have a few cars and they are all compatible. There won’t be any adjusting going on, it’s the same octane.

The cases are inter-changeable and you can F/G heads on any RD400
I'm pretty sure the only difference is porting

Whilst I am unsure about any issues regarding installing C model internals into G model cases, I do know that the G model head is only compatible with E/F/G model barrels due to the combustion chamber shape and squish and I am therefore unsure if they could be adapted to work with the earlier barrels.

If you do end up buying them and can’t use the head, I would be interested in buying it from you for a spare for my F & G.
