Wheels pretty good, LOL, they look perfect to me as do the rest of the work that you have done. You are putting more into this than Yamaha itself did when they manufactured it. Can't wait to see her all dressed and ready to go, it will be a shame to use such a nice bike. Well done sir and keep the updates coming.

Getting very, very close to done. 10 months, 200+ hours. Not perfect, not OEM, but still a fantastic bike. I need to fill the gearbox, set the timing, add the air filter, and put gas in her. We are racing the next 2 weekends so it will be a few more weeks. I sure hope she runs - 30 years since she did last.

COMPLETED - 79 RD400 Daytona Special

She is done!!!!  I put 4.2 miles on her in her maiden voyage last night. A gentle break-in ride basically. She ran, handled, and stopped absolutely flawlessly - maybe the easiest shake-down ride I've ever done. What sweet sounds!!! In all, this was an 8 month project, some 220 hours of labor, and about $10,000 total invested. I touched every part, and she is almost perfect, and about 85% original. I'll take a break for the Summer to enjoy all the bikes in the garage, then start on the 77 RD400 in October when the rains come again.

Great to hear everything went well, you have done a tremendous job, she looks lovely and well worth all the time spent on her. What will you do with all of your spare time now? the weather won't allow you to enjoy riding your bikes all of the time so what project next?

Super, that looks good as is, what are you going to do to it? it looks like a good polish and ready to go, How I would love to find bikes like that. Looking forward to getting more detailed progress, Thanks for your input.

Lovely job, been following your work from the start, enjoy.

Will follow the next one , when you get around to it in the winter , but enjoy the Daytona in the sun in the meantime.  8)

Here's a few vids of the completed build. A walk around, a start, and a 10 minute ride through the local countryside on a perfect Pacific NorthWest evening.

:) Great videos, very nice bikes , the Red 400 is my favourite. Jeez wish we had roads like that over here in the Uk , no potholes and barely another vehicle on the road . Enjoy 😉

Looks good, sounds good and rides good, you've done a super job and can see the same attention for the next one. Looking forward to another detailed progression.
