!979 RD400 Daytona F-500 race bike

Hello from the USA, you have a LOT of great RD's, they left us in 1979.

Thought I would post some pictures of my 1979 RD400 F (us spec) Daytona.  It uses a 1A1 crank (the 2V0's will snap when you get above the low 60's in RWHP) RZ 115mm rods (crank machined for the widened big end)  Back cut transmission (TZ modification removing 3 of the dogs) YZ490 straight cut clutch conversion.  Swarbrick pipes, 36mm round slides, V-force reeds.  TZ350 front end with Daytona tubes, Race tech emulators, .9KG springs works performance length adjustable shocks, dual-rate springs.  DG swingarm, Campanello magnesium wheels. Lockheed front calipers lightened drilled RD350 rotors.  PVL CDI. 

Very fun to ride, handles like it's on rails, stops turns, and goes. 

About to build a production racer, we never got the 2R9 cylinders in the states, I am looking for a set of UNMOLESTED 2R9 cylinders, prefer they be under a 66mm bore, if any one knows of any Id love to get my hands on a set for the project, would also love to have a set of heads.

That is a lovely, understated machine you have there and I bet that it is a hoot to ride.

You might struggle to get hold of a pair of 2R9 barrels and late model heads to be honest, as they are quite sought after these days but your best bet would be to post a wanted ad to see if someone can help you out. I do have one spare set myself but running four bikes with this engine type means I need to hold onto them in case I have a major failure or just to swap in, when required for when the next bike is due rebore.

Thank you for the compliments, it is a hoot to ride and a giant killer.  I have won many 750 class races with it.  It runs, stops, turns and is on rails.  There is a lot of detail work, I raced it for over 10 years with 3 DNF's   I am currently rebuilding/restoring it.

I have a set of 2R9 cylinders to trade IF your set is unmolested ( would pay all shipping costs). Mine has had the transfer bridge knife-edged and the ports cleaned up.  The production class I am looking to build for requires stock cylinders.    I can measure the bore and confirm it for you.  I am also willing to provide them ported if you would like a hot set of cylinders.  Please feel free to E-mail me.  This offer stands for anyone with a set of stock (unported) 2R9 cylinders that are serviceable at less than a 66mm bore.
