The attached two charts show three of the five colours - Marine Blue and Low Gloss Black are missing.

I think that these charts were published for the US market - the composition of the colours should be the same, but we in the UK wouldn't have got those coloured bikes in those years. Someone like c50 might have the equivalent charts for the UK/Euro models.

Gr8uncleal, that's great, Thank You. I've saved them to My computer. Found a paint guy recently, Motopaint. He reckons he has all codes to mix paint for any ancient bikes. He deals mainly with old Brit stuff, but he'd got a couple of Coffin tank paint sets in to do soon. Will ask him if these codes you've supplied match his :D :D

I do have a 400+ page pdf document that I'll try and post here. Part of it is model codes and part of it paint, though it doesn't give the paint application process.

It's a shame that it isn't an Excel file, where we can order the columns as we need!

My paint guy is looking into it, if he comes up with a paint code that looks about right I will put it on this thread.😀

Indeed it is!  :o :D

As I said, a real shame that we can't "data sort".  :(

That Yamaha VIN Codes document is interesting but, still not specific on many details, IMO.  Particularly, the models/markets/sales are very sketchy on the older bikes like the RD's.  Also, I don't see any engine number prefix references (some are different) but, as a plus, it does show the Frame number prefix where it differs from the Model code.   Thanks for posting it.  :)

I have manged to remove the pistons from the front brake caliper. One came out easily but the other one had the fluid passage blocked by rust and I couldn’t get muck movement on it. Eventually I managed to get enough showing to get it in a vice and prise the caliper from the piston. Master cylinder has been rebuilt and I have replaced the hard line and the hose. On a different note I have posted the documents to the DVLA to see if they will play nicely with the registration. That’s all for now
