Project X at the Rally

So now it?s out there and almost run in.



The bike has been at the Rally all weekend and everyone was impressed.



A good few rode the bike if only round the rally site.



It went perfect all weekend covering over 100 miles in total.



Panuno had a few problems with his RD so arrived at the rally in his car so he was the obvious choice to ride it for the Chip shop run on Friday evening.



RDjock won the raffle to ride it on the main rally ride out Saturday.



I have not got many photos of this but I am sure Del and others will add to mine soon.



The bike was photographed all weekend by just about everyone that looked at it and it attracted a crowd all weekend with the sun shining on the paintwork.



All members of the club should be proud of what we have achieved with Project X.

i did comment on my ride elsewhere , but will repeat it just for you Paul, had a wee shot up the field first and was very impressed , and the look , sound of it is absolutely stonking .

on the rideout , to say i was  proud to ride her is a massive understatement , we know we need a new front tyre to get rid of the wobble at 50mph , (altho it does ride thro it) , on the rideout what a sweet motor she pulls well ,very slight flat spot at 4thou , but boy once she gets going , handles superbly once you get your confidence with the tyre issue , and contrary to those that were winding you up i DID Not take her by 6 thou , ( hope other riders of it will treat it with respect as well)well maybe once when i missed a gear  



 a fantastic bike which will no doubt be tweeked as time goes by ,

oh forgot really glad the issue with the side panel /oil tank decals was resolved , and i no there were a few that never noticed that it does indeed now say aircooled rd club , instead of rd aircooled club , hats off to him for rectifying his mistake !!

i believe the seat flap knob  is still avail from yamaha i will order one this week

Thanks for organising that ride on the Chippy Run for me Paul, thoroughly enjoyed it, and it"s *exactly* what I think the club bike is for.

I did have my 350 finished and MoT"d on Friday morning, but some running issues meant I arrived at the Rally in the car and bike-less, so riding Project X was a real boon  



Riding impressions?

As Jock has mentioned there is a wobble on the front end due to the tyre (we think), but it never gets out of control and never turns into a slapper, just a constant slight shimmy as if you"re riding on rain grooves.

No problem at all riding with it and it doesn"t affect the handling one bit really, you"re just aware of it.

Forks are a wee bit soft, but handles superbly (even on those tyres   ) and the brakes are stonking.



The engine will skim the front wheel over the tarmac in 1st & 2nd when it comes on the pipes, and it is nicely quick for a 250 in the first 3 gears.

Little bit of a flat spot in the mid-range in 4th/5th, but I think that could be programmed out with the ignition.



I didn"t thrash it by any means, but Boy! did it need a bit of spirited riding in places to keep up with the pack on the run out to the Chippy and back.



Lovely crisp engine, good sharp handling, a very comfortable seat, and impeccably put together by Marnew.
