Joined by Dave on his MT-09 we stopped up the Gorge for a pic then on to Weston. Parked at the beach end usual place for a few minutes before the Beach Police came to say we cldnt park.
Didnt faze us as we took the pics and went to the Cabot for a beer

Yes a good day with excellent weather.
Looking at Steves bike I am beginning to think it's time I started visually restoring my bike
but will save that for a while or lottery win.
My bike smoked badly and it must be
- residue from premix (unlikely i suppose As did that year ago)
- oil pump way out
Gear oil remains constant So can't be that serious.
I'll check oil pump but I set it spot on .....

Jools , monitor oil tank level whilst standing for a week or so could be seeping oil through wearing pump seals under gravity from oil tank whilst standing. Just something to look for. Steve

Thanks for that. I'll monitor.
That needs a look (I can't remember the routing setup) but
It has not been renewed thus 40+ years old.
Will report

Stop the press !!!!!!!!
It is exactly as you say !!!!
I checked level then again in 3 hours and it had fallen
3 notches.
Also I filled up with 1l ish of oil a d as I returned from
60m run oil light started to flicker.
I tell you it must be a leak ... and not to the floor.
So:
Out with the parts diagram to see how this is happening and where
It is going.
If you didn't say I would never madly have checked this!

Jools, start by taking oil pump casing off. 1 of the pipes on mine had split in there. If you can't see any visible leaks externally, is the oil level in the gearbox going up and is the colour of it looking like your 2 stroke colour??

Jools, if gear oil is constant as you say, no visible leaks as you say, smokes badly as you say, use's 1 ltr of 2 stroke oil to 60 mlles as you say, i would take a look at your oil pump...

Just waking all up for the usual Cheddar
May bank hol 2020 meet.
I will attend with me RD "D" and all can view
what a tank looks like sprayed with the cheapest
spray from halfords......
Last year there were 2 of us and a chap I know
from Thailand who owns the only (I reckon)
rd 400 in thailand. I went over and saw it... superb
restore and superb riding in the. northern hills.
Shame we cant after the meet change the normal
run to Weston super mare but to take in Wells and
Glastonbury too.

I was thinking if I am there alone..... I can put it to the board (me)
and move the outlandish decision to incorporate a
walk up Glastonbury tor en route to Weston sea front.

Wake wake wake wake !
Nearing the barely existent May Day Cheddar meet again !
Hard times for all no doubt and I have had to sell 2 bikes.
(or on process of doing so). Not the RD of course.
If I make it through the pandemic I'll be there.
