Not Andy Green as in thrustSSC land speed record car !!!
Hi Merv, well if it is, he was hiding his light under a TZ fairing. I will ask next time. Im not sure but I think he is andy_g on here but he has not been active for a while on the forum which is not surprising given the efforts these classic racers go to. I just dont know where they get the time and money to do it. Obviously RAF subsidise the RAF team a bit, along with a few other sponsors.
I was also surprised at how young some of the top runners are. And then equally surprised at how hold some of the older buffers are and how red hot fast they are, all scuffed leathers as well. So not afraid of dropping it. It just takes them longer to get up. There were a few women racing as well.
It was a great sunny day out. Im just a bit fed up I couldnt be back there today as I really enjoyed it.
Now all RD purists turn away for a minute.......I found out later that one of the RAF guys races a Yamaha XJ600 just like the one I have and was a bit cheesed off as I could have chatted to him about it.....never mind hope to get to speak at one of the other meetings.
The VIntage Jap Bike Club were there as well organising parade laps for members and I reckon thats the only way I am gonna be able to afford the dosh and time to get out on track.
Castle Combe is a great viewing circuit and there seemed to be a bar, bogs or food van any which way I turned. I can throughly recommend CRMC meetings for a good day out based on my first experience and I will certainly be going again.
