removing Tachometer cable from Engine RD250B
« on: January 14, 2020, 12:28:22 AM »
OK this should be a simple job but the part pointed at in the photo will not budge. The parts manual I downloaded has miserable resolution and the last thing I want to do is break something can someone tell me how this piece comes out [ Specified attachment is not available ]

The cable is stuck in the housing use penetrating oil to release it
The housing is stuck on its rubber seal carefully twist housing to free  off then pull out

when using penetrating oil don't forget that it will mix with your gearbox oil and depending on how much you use will thin it down so i would suggest an oil change after. what i would do is remove the complete drive and do it on the bench to make it easier.

Parts look like this, if you're still struggling.

Thanks to all for the input.I was able to remove the cable but it appears  the piece that the cable screws to (the piece to the right in the above photo) is damaged, the flange that tests against the engine case does not go fully around it's difficult to see in the parts drawing if that is normal. I'll try to get a better photo this evening.
Thank agsin

It seems the concern i had with this piece was the flat spot after closer look it appears factory made this is the area hidden by the clamp.
