RIK piston rings - are they any good?
« on: December 15, 2019, 02:33:19 PM »
As per the title.

I picked up a set in a box of parts and just wonder if it's worth the hassle of identifying and then flogging them.

Thanks.

they are supplied with Mitaka pistons so should be fair quality i reckon

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”

Thanks Mervin.

Does anyone know how the RIK model coding works? On the package, under "Make & Model" is shown "Y-10W". It might be too simple, but to me this could be Yamaha RD125LC (10W is the model code for that bike). The dimensions of the rings suggest that this might be correct (56mm bore).

The rings might well have the oversize etched on by the gap ends, eg: 25.  The bore size will be pretty much reached with the ends together to about .25mm  gap.  Cheers

Thanks 5port.

Funnily enough, the oversize (0.75) is shown on the packet, it's just the make and model code I'm trying to interpret. I'm pretty sure that they are RD125LC for the reasons already given, but I do like to make sure of these things and leant many years ago not to assume anything!

Thanks again.
