Pirhana electronic ignition
« on: June 12, 2019, 07:49:26 PM »
Hi again guys
I  bought a non running RD250c so I have never heard the engine run, the rebuild is all done but I cant get a spark, does anyone have or know where I can get information on what and where to check?, I don't know where I should be looking for voltages or anything else to be honest, any help very grateful.
Cheers

Edit
I have just found what I think is the Newtronics schematics, apologies if it is incorrect

The image had not uploaded very well, it looks better on my phone

Be sure to check and post the obvious checks !
plugs
ht leads
coils
battery
wiring check

i assume it has a newtronics fitted ?

whats the statusbof that ?
do you have the origonal points ?
has the bike ever run and why did it stop ?
or disnt the previous owner know that .

detailed analysis is liked on here ... (i think ).

Longshot, but if you are trying to start your Piranha equipped bike with the alternator cover off, you may expose the optical sensors to other light sources, interfering with their operation.

Another basic suggestion, you also need a good fully charged 12v battery

Also Check you have 12v at red/white wire on the coils, this is activated by the run switch.

thanks for the advice guys, not sure why it stopped , been stood in a shed for 30 years, the piranha is now newtronics, I don't mind buying a new one but wouldn't want to find out afterwards it was just a wire.
