Model specifics
« on: January 06, 2019, 09:11:09 AM »
Hello
previously on here, I think it was in this section I have found information on the 400 specifically year of manufacture, engine chassis numbers, carburettor numbers etc. It was a scanned document.
Now I cannot find it anywhere?
Anyone point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks in anticipation

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity"

Thanks Merv, that's the one I found, but sure there was another showing engine/frame numbers followed by 2R9.
Maybe I was dreaming.
Am I right in thinking 1A3 carbs were for C/D model and 2R9 were for E/F

Search google "yamaha RD vin numbers", and look at "images".  You should find the table.  Basically, there are often "model numbers" like 2R8, 2R9, 2TO, 2V3  etc, that were never frame/engine numbers.  But then, there are ones like 1A2 and 1A3 etc that were both, and also covered later sub types, like the 2R9 is a sub type of 1A3.  There is no perfect reason to it.  ???
