« on: November 08, 2018, 12:42:08 PM »
engine will start up first kick . right hand cylinder will run ok on its own with carb air screw 1 and 3/4 turns out but left cylinder needs to be nearly 3 turns out before it will run on its own . will rev ok but on the road no power and misses on left side .new points , plugs , condensers, different coils, different carbs ( all been cleaned)

Could be anything. Are your baffles and exhausts clean? Are the points set correctly using a dti? Has it ever run right or is it a new purchase?

latest update - took top end off and found left side base gasket was leaking ( oil was going up studs ) . piston rings are dykes type and well within tolerance . rebuilt and reset timing, now running with both carbs on standard settings and will rev ok but still no power when ridden

Can you describe exactly what happens when you ride the bike. It appears what you experiencing is a lack of power under load which could be something a simply a lack of fuel flow. If you have everything set up correctly and an engine will rev freely when not under load there is not much left to try. What do the spark plugs look like after running? Are they sooty and oily or clean, you won’t be able to do a good plug chop if you have no power but the plug always tells a story.
