They were quite ahead of their time and always looked a very pretty bikes but have owned various exotic machinery in the past i wonder about reliabity issues.Probably better off putting a Ypzs 350 motor in it , it you are going to ride it rather than look at it :-\ ;D ;D
Rd 350 special can we get more than 70bnp?

Handling was reputed to be better than Jap bikes, Iffy Electrics where standard fitting on all eytie  bikes at the time , as Stukey says reliability is probably and issue as it is with all eytie motors right up until today ,
A modern Ducrapi came into the garage Today as i was filling truck with diesel , closely followed by a Vstrom, then a SV 650 , and TBH if you did not know the Duke makes a horrible rattle on tickover you would have said it was on its last legs , the Suzis where very quiet in comparison.

the idea of a ypvs motor in it sounds good but on the other hand for thew rarity value probably better left alone

Loved them back in the day, still love them now, they look so perfect
If the gear change was on the correct side I would have one.

Lovely to ride, handling sublime, well that was an earlier one I had the luck to borrow many years ago, while I was sorting out a holly piston problem on my 400D!
I seem to rember as mervin says electrics were iffy, speedo just gave you an average, but you had to work out the average your self between the wildly oscolating needle on the vegula instruments.

If it looks as good as that and is a reasonable price, then buy it.If it is rough and needs restoration. That is another can of worms you don't want to open.

Quote from bike magazine am when they toured Europe on a BMW R90 Kwak Z900 and Guzzi Le Mans. If the fuzzy had a clock like the BMW it would have to stretch 20 hours to last the day to compensate for the Speedo inaccuracy
