Yet another MOT question.
« on: September 01, 2018, 12:40:37 PM »
My XT500 was 40yrs old in June 2018 so can be tax free from April 2019, my MOT ran out July 2018 so bike was 40 yrs and 1 month old, my question is can i run without MOT now or does it need an MOT up to April 2019 ?    :-\

one to ask the dvla, lovely people!
I suspect you will have to mot it once more. Think it has to be historic class on v5 first. i.e. even though 45 yrs old if its not historic class then you need mot, could be wrong of course all very confusing.
In addition you will need to declare mot exempt by self certifying on form v112, which is very straightforward.

I think you're right Dave, had another read on dvla website and it does say that you can only be mot exempt if registered as historic. Oh well time to sorn the XT and carry on on the RD for the rest of this season, bugger its the 2nd of sept that means i've just lost a months refund, just my luck.... :)
