Well, bike is just back from M.O.T. station and has passed with flying colours.
Tool tray still to be fitted (waiting for pins from platers).
Only other job is to try and find the YAMAHA plaque for the engine cover which is in my mum's garage somewhere.
(I know it's there, but it's a small item and the garage is full of stuff so it's going to be a mammoth job to clear it out to find it).
Need to get it taxed now and then put a few miles on it.

Here's the snaps of it all together...

It looks amazing & I look forward to seeing sometime in the future.
Give us a shout if you are near Melton, as mine is not ready yet.

Thanks for the compliments guys, another good day today & got a bit of road test done.
Everything is working & it sounds lovely.
Just need my paintwork redoing & all being well, it will be at the Rally this year.
Will upload a video shortly.

Thanks Robert(twosmoke), it’s been a lot of work, but the end result is worth it.
It would be really good if we could meet up sometime & compare bikes & stories.
If that doesn’t work out, are you going to the RD Rally in Derby this year, on the weekend 7/8 July, as I will be going with my bike.

Regards
Colin

Colin,

Yes, that would be great.
Not using any of my bikes until all this salt has gone, but end of April onwards I am in the market for a meet up!

Brake binding & slipping clutch problem sorted.
Next issue is a leaking clutch cover gasket, so new one ordered which will hopefully arrive this week.

Good to hear you are getting there with the faults.
It’s all part of the joy of riding classic motorcycles, I have a leaking fork seal on my 400c, but it has done over 800 miles this Summer, so all in all, it’s running well.
Let me know when you are on the road.

Colin

Faulty seals we suspect.
Pistons & seals both replaced and problem sorted.

Bought a new gasket but gearbox oil leak appears to have resolved itself?

A minor miracle happened the other day and I have found the long lost second key!

How many 78' RD400's have got both original keys I wonder?!

Not many, I don’t think & did you find the engine case Yamaha decals?
We never did meet up this year, had a good few months on mine & did over 1000 miles, including 3 laps of the TT circuit.
Let’s try & make it happen in the Spring time, to get our two 400c together.

Cheers
Colin

It's going to be a major job to find that YAMAHA engine plaque Colin as it's hiding somewhere in a very cluttered garage at my Mothers house. Need a dry clear day to allocate to the task!
It's definitely there somewhere though.

Still time to meet up this year Colin if you are available. Way too parky out today though!
