Done a bit today
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:21:54 PM »
While I was waiting for parts to arrive for the 350cc conversion I thought I would do a few basics

The tank was already off so I changed the air filter

out with the old.

In with the new

I removed the very knackerd battery and found these damaged wires.

Dumped this battery after only 2 seasons use.

So a quick repair and prepare the new battery.

I read the insructions and it said do not fill the battery unless its above 15C so I will leave if until the workshop warms up.

Bought one of them Yuasa batteries for my RD as I thought they were one of the better ones to have, after 12 months it was shot, would not hold a charge, took one of of the other bike that's a good few years older  and that is fine.
These are the original Yamaha fit if I am correct?

That air filter looked seriously old - looks like it has never been changed before

When the 350 barrels go on do you cut the snorkel out of the airbox like the 400s  :-\

I fitted the newe battery today and put the Optimiser on it.
Its now charged and I will watch to see it it drops down.
I reckon it will be fine now we have a new battery and those wires are repaired.

I had exactly the same Yuasa battery and it hasn't even lasted a year. Oxford Oximiser says it's fine - try running it on the bike and it certainly isn't!
