Really grateful for this post - I just frightened myself looking at the many boxes I couldn't have answered Phew!

Box 2: Taxation class: I understand that the government have changed the Historic class again and vehicles are Historic after 40yrs of age. Is that right? Which for this year would make it pre 1974 vehicles. I'm happy to say cos mine is 1973.

Has anything else changed which I need to know for making my application?

Thanks Paul.

Just to confirm (before I go and cock it all up  ;D) /before it gets sent in the post this week

The things that I need to send off to apply for an age related plate and new logbook are:

- Completed form V55/5
- Dating Certificate
- MOT Certificate
- Proof of address: Printed Bank statement
- proof of name: Copy of my photocard driving licence
- Cheque for £55 payable to DVLA Swansea

Am I missing anything?

Cheers

That's correct Scott but I am not sure if you will get away with a copy of your driving licence. I think you may need the original but I am not 100% sure.

photocopy every thing before you send it off
if you don't get your original licence back
check what entitlements  are on it
not unknown to be different on return
people have had to retake tests without proof

Ok guys, thanks for the advice, it seems a bit odd sending off an original! Could I take them into a local office?

Cheers

After a bit of help!

For registering the bike, I was planning on registering it in my name but due to the extortionate insurance prices, my father would only be insured on the bike, is that a problem? Should the whole application be made in my fathers name or can I apply but with only my father insured on the bike?  :-\

Thanks

insurers usually want the main driver i.e. your dad to be the registered keeper

Got a rejection letter because it has bot been registered with NOVA. Any idea how to go about filling in the epic online forms in the 'correct' way  :-\ Such an epic and I am not sure how to approach it, has anybody done this? Who did you put down as the 'Supplier' etc etc?

For each vehicle supplier you will need:

Name
Address
VAT Registration Number (if applicable)

For each vehicle you will need:

Vehicle Identification Number Vehicle Identification Number
Vehicle details (for example make, model)
Vehicle registration details and date arrived in the UK Registration details and date arrived in UK
Purchase invoice or vehicle registration details
Price paid
Mileage

Thanks

About to go through this process and have ordered the V55/5 forms.  The bike is now complete and ready for MOT.  It was imported in Jan 2013, before the Nova system started.  Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

All new registrations now need a NOVA no matter what.
Even of your bike don't ne a NOVA DVLA will not register it unless HMRC say so with a NOVA number.
So from now on don't even bother send the V55/5 to DVLA without a NOVA. You can still register your bike with a NOVA and say its a un-registered UK bike and HMRC will issue you a number.

Where can you select ' un-registered UK bike ' on the nova website?
