BLUE OYSTER GIMP CLUB NEWBIE(400C)
« on: January 19, 2019, 08:19:02 PM »
Well here I go again. 2nd rebuild, which I thought was going to be reasonably simple as the project bike was 1/2 reassembled. Little did I know ::) ::) ::)
Here's pictures of the bike from the EBay advert-

I won the auction and went and picked up bike, January 2017. Of course when I viewed things close up, it was an eye opener. Powder coated wheels did grow on me, but I knew they'd got to be returned to original. A big shock was when I noticed fork leg bottoms had been powder coated, even over the drain screw!! :o :o :o.
Amazing how stupid people can be where Booze and Ebay are mixed together :'( :'( :'(.
Anyway as luck had it, Sonny the guy selling her had a few surprises for me. There are lots of new Yambits parts, Seat, Fork stanchions, 2nd set of exhausts & downpipes, etc. etc. Soon Sold the Seat as the original was there and in very good condition. Sold the exhausts & downpipes to a couple of guys from Ooop North as they rebuild C's & D's all the time. Damned if I can remember their names though :-[ :-[ :-[
Not sure if I'll be as thorough with this build regarding pics & written words- WHAT DO THE MASSES THINK?? I'll wait for a few comments ;) ;)
Bye for now, it's beer o'clock :D :D :D

Looking good in blue Tink. No pink in sight. Remember to keep the petrol off the paintwork when in the van.
No garage is large enough!

Started the strip down

82983-0

82985-1

Tackle the powder coated wheels

82987-2

82989-3

Hydroflouric Acid makes short work of powder coating. All off both wheels in 30 minutes :o :o :o
Don't panic, tyres/ tubes removed by Chase Superbike before dipping :P :P

Fork bottoms powder coat removed and polishing started

82991-4

82993-5

Original seat prepared

82995-6

82997-7

82999-8

83001-9

Then found this crock of S**t

83003-10

83005-11

It was never gonna run right with a 250 Snorkel ::) ::) ::)

83007-12

SURPRISE!!!!

83009-13

The plastic bush was split before i removed from swingarm

To think the guy had refitted the bushes and swingarm back on frame. Dangerous or what :o :o >:( >:(
