Thanks . The tool chest is one of the Clarke ones from Machine mart.  Not the basic one but the middle range one

I seem to have missed this topic, what a fabulous rebuild. It's particularly nice to see the 200 in addition to the 350

Thanks a lot . It will probably slow down a bit now while I wait for my mate to get my 200 bodywork back to me . I was hoping to get them to the same state at the same time but  I might start on the 350 Engine to keep things going.

3 Parts rubbing alcohol to 1 part Methyl Salicylate. If you buy that as "Oil of wintergreen" it will cost you lots more so make sure you look for the chemical name

I'm going to give this a go. I've got a lot of old rubber that need restoring. Thanks for the process and tips. I assume that after the soaking you just rinse it off with water, dry, let stand for a day and then the parts are ready to use.

Your bike restorations are looking great!

Yes that's right.  It seems to take about 5 days for most parts.  I think if you were in a warm environment it might be quicker.  It is really amazing how parts go from rock hard to super flexible again.  Which bits are you looking to soften?

I've got 2 sets of RD125B carb boots to do. Mine are rock hard. Repros are $70/pair so this seems like the way to go. After that I'll do my brother's RD125C boots. My RD250B may need it as well

Bit more progress today .  Fitted the oil tank.  Got the petrol cap onto the tank.  I noticed a hole at the front bottom of the air box anyone know what this is for ?

It looks like it was in from the start not drilled in by some one during ownership ? Apologies for the poor quality photo.  My phone was struggling to focus

Started Rd200 Engine strip down today.  Barrels don't seem too bad - no scoring n either one or on the pistons .  Crank moves ok and no play in the rods however there is rust on the right hand crank journals so a crank rebuild is going to be needed I think.  Only spent an hour today and had to stop while I think about how to get the generator off.  I have a Kawasaki puller bolt but the thread pitch isn't right .  Does anyone know how easy it is to get the right puller bolt to use? or would a three leg puller be ok to use ?

This question has been asked quite often so it would be worthwhile doing a search. You need to be careful as it is easy to damage

Thanks for the tip off.  It does make interesting reading and I am now really nervous about trying to get it off.  What do you recommend as the best method ?

I would look for whatever method Graham used, he posts using the name Fit not Fox

Thanks for the reply. Managed to get it off by using my Kawasaki bolt and a small piece of smaller dia bar in the hole first .  Unfortunately that appears to be stuck in the crank for now .  Decided that I am going for the full rebore and crank rebuild - no point in doing half a job now that I have got this far.  Anyone recommended for supply of pistons and a rebore also for crank rebuild ?
