POR15 - wtf is going on with the prices?
« on: April 20, 2017, 12:53:21 AM »
Had a tin of POR15 gas tank sealer (236ml) in my Ebay Watch-List from last week. Am sure it was about £20.

It's now £119 for the smallest size. Same listing

Looking under sold listings filter the sale price (all sellers) has went up four/five fold.

What's going on?

Cheers guys.

I quickly ordered a tin from France for £24 all in.

I should've tried Frost but stupidly assumed they'd be dear too. Otherwise why are ppl paying over £100 for a tin they could get for £13 from Frost? :-\

In the early 90s I used to fix car fuel tanks and bought loads of this from Frost so it's not like I don't know the company  ::)

frost had run out of por15 up until a few days ago so the ebay seller was probably taking advantage of this.

Cheers rsvr1000. I always wondered why they market a 3-part kit for motorbike tanks but for cars it's just the sealant. That's probably because motorbike tanks always seem to be rusty inside and they have perhaps found it doesn't apply (as much ?) with cars.

I actually fixed around 70 car tanks with POR15 in the late 90s and was always surprised at how clean they were inside. Especially when the outsides were so corroded.

Anyway. I got my tin and can't believe how small it is  :D
