The Piston Broke / Re: Uploading Video ??
« Last post by tony2stroke on Today at 09:01:29 PM »
Personally I upload to youtube and then put a link to here, simples and no need for photo video share sites.
Hope this info helps...
I had a 1981 RD125DX back in the day (80's) and it could never haul my 11 stone frame past 70 MPH (speedo reading). I have a good memory for things that happened 30 years ago...just struggle to think of what I did yesterday  :(
This speed was even with Microns fitted and jetted correctly - in fact it was barely any quicker than my previous bike, a RS100.
There is no way it would rev anywhere near the red-line, unless I was flat on the tank with a tail-wind, when it would edge up to 75.
The truth of the matter is that it was a slow bike and I found it vastly under-powered; it did make a great noise, however!  :D
I doubt very much if in reality it made any more power than the restricted RD125LC (i.e. 12 bhp).
Add to that a potentially worn engine, plus a heavier body, and I would think a top speed in the 60's is about right sitting upright.
My current standard RD200DX tops out at 75 with my 12 and a half stone body sitting upright, so I guess this sounds about right too.
We all expect a lot from these little bikes, but the truth is that there is no substitute for cc's.
I doubt a standard RD200DX makes any more than 15 or 16 bhp at the rear wheel.
My advice would be to find a renowned 2-stroke tuner, buy a spare set of heads and barrels from Ebay and let him loose on them  :)
You can always return it to standard when you come to sell it.
Aircooled RD Tech Help 250cc and Above / Re: RD350 noisy clutch

Hi! I´m first time here and I think this problem is solved. I have same kind of sound after crank rebuild in My R5 engine. I supposed it comes from clutch and dismantled and assembled it three times. But it wasnt! Í have Newtronic ignition system and it has much thicker breaker cam shaft than in  original breaker point shaft There is only  0,5 mm clearance between shaft and stator case hole. When there is too big clearance in cranck bearings, breaker cam´s shaft touch stator case and gives sound like that. I found clear wear mark from this shaft. I´m going to lathe Groove there.  PS. Sorry my bad English, My native language is finnish.

Hi, I"ve just got my clutch working but it"s noisy when I pull the lever in. See the following on youtube and you can hear it...

<a href="" target="_blank">[/url]

I also noticed that the clutch spacer (the tube that goes between the basket and gearbox drive) does not slide right through the basket - it will slide out from the front edge but not the back.

I"m assuming it"s either the spacer or the basket - the basket has brass bushes so I"m not sure how these can be changed.  Any ideas ?
Yeah. And the guy has another 2...

When I bought mine it showed only 1 available - hence the immediate purchase . It was on at $80 AUS (£44.85) but as soon as I bought it he listed the other two at $100 AUS (£56.07).

He's looking for around $800 AUS for a NOS RD125 barrel. Sounds crazy but is it worth 8 badges? lol

Sent an email of support  to Richard who owns CMW and had this reply..

Dear Mark,

What can I say but a massive thankyou. Today we were reliably informed that we didn’t need to talk to the press as the Council were to sort. Tonight, not the case.
Would you mind checking our website in a week or so as we will post a contact where you could object to the current proposal?
In the meantime, again my very sincere thanks- we never asked for this whole mess but are stuck with sorting.

Sent from my iPad

Will keep an eye on the web site to see what happens...
The Piston Broke / Uploading Video ??

Hi Guys,

What are people using to upload video to the forum ??

I used to use 'photobucket' to hold video and then link to it, but i'm not using photobucket anymore

That's a good idea Alvin S' but you're a bit limited by having to keep the stud long enough to have something to put the guide-tubes on.

Also once a hole has went squint you can't really straighten it up. You may notice this if you ever try to widen a drilled hole by pushing drill sideways. I never works lol.

I guess once you've made the initial hole the tubes could be done away with but after thinking of this scheme and determined that they have a purpose and are guiding that drill-bit home  ;D

NB are you related to Mr A Stardust;)

Cheers Scott.  Sorry I could not give accurate measurements but, I would do it as you are doing: measure, practice fit, try, measure again...etc!  :)
Overall, if you get the tyre in the centre, the chain run straight, the caliper/disc inline and it tightens up without force on the bearings, you are good!
