Hi Dave, I have had a good look around for the Genuine Mikuni 5L3 Needles but, I cannot find any and, they have been rare for years.  :(
One possibility, if you are happy to try pattern parts, is the Keyster copy.  They list the 5L3 pattern Needle as, Y317.  I haven't found it sold individually but, it comes in their kit for the RD250C/D (1A2), Keyster kit KY-0532N.   NRP in UK have it for sale £22.80 each kit +£3.50 postage, so looking at almost £50 for 2 kits.
As I said, not first choice but, difficult to find Needle. 
You still need to sort out the remote air feeds though, and check all the other carb parts.  ;) Cheers

Hi Andy,This is a pic from my 400c which had a piranha system installed when i bought it.Someones just done an installation guide just go on search to find it.

Hi all.
New here, hope maybe someone can help me, i have bought a barn find Rd 250c 1976 which has a piranha ignition but unfortunately the wiring has been butchered, does anyone know how it should be wired ?, there is 2 wires disconnected at the pick ups which i think maybe from  the points set up, wiring isn't my best point so any advice very gratefully received.

Hi again Dave!
The Air corrector feed through the bowls feeds the Needle jet outer holes.  This provides the "emulsion tube" effect on the Bleed type Needle jets and, makes most difference in mid range and top end fueling.  The bottom line is, you are going to find it difficult to get the carbs running properly with a mix-up of parts and jetting.  :'(  It is worth getting the right parts for your bike to run properly.  Of course, you can do it differently but that can be a difficult job.  From your posts so far, you have a lot of non-standard inlet/carb parts for a RD350B 522 and, I would advise getting everything back to standard. The other options are: trying to get it working with what you have, trying different carbs or, trying a different set-up like a Primary conversion.  ???  However, I would suggest going for the "back to standard" option so, here is what you need to have as standard.  Your air filter should be the baffled type, if you have unbaffled, your Main jets go up to 140 but, the change of air filter also effects overall carb working and probably needs Pilot/Idle air screw changes.  So, the standard filter is Baffled, Main jet 105, Needle 5L3 with clip in 4th groove from top, Needle jet #175 O-8, Slide 2.0, Pilot jet 25, Idle air screw one and One quarter turns out from lightly seated, carbs fitted with remote air feeds. 
You will probably find the Baffled air filter and the 5L3 Needles are difficult to get but, see how you go on. You should use genuine Mikuni jets and needles, using pattern carb parts puts you back in the position of not knowing where you are with issues.  Cheers

Hi 5port,

Yes the RH runs good and it has the 360 float bowl. Ideally I would get back to standard 522’s but I do not have 2 good bowl’s only 1 so making do with what I have until another turns up. My confusion is why does it work fine on one side and no the other which is why I am persevering with trying to get LH up and running properly. Don’t have a spare 522 float bowl lying around do you?

Managed to get a few moments today with the LC. Got a cush drive off eBay so that went in and I whipped the swing arm back out for the final bit of tweaking. Satisfied all was dead straight I then put in the spacers (still need new needle bearings!) and the swinger now fits like it was designed to fit. Really pleased with this.





Looking at it the Mito shock mount actually aligns with the LC coil and I could just bolt it together but of course it would collapse and I'm not sure if the stress on the mount would hold up. But there are a ton of options here I just need to sit down with a coffee and a Jaffa cake or 8 and figure it out!

1st Question: Yes, non-remote air-corrector feed floatbowls will cause issues on 522 carbs because the 522 carb is designed to get the air for the correctors through that remote feed that they now haven't got.
2nd Question: For a standard bike, you would probably do best with standard carbs.  Yours do sound to be mixed-up?  Do you intend to get back to standard carb set-up?
