RD400 under construction
« on: November 13, 2017, 02:52:38 PM »
Well, might as Well give it a try
I have a build thread on 2strokeworld but found This page, thought you might wanted to tag a long on yet another build thread  :)
Personale, i love to see other People's work/project build, so This is my contribution

For about 2 years so far i have been building/modding/ gathering parts as i came along

I bought a Rd400c frame With half a engine and some wasted parts. I learned the hard way, that even the front and rear wheel was not even a Yamaha rd, so i have gotten parts from US, UK and all over the world.
I have Never ride/build a Yamaha rd, but i had to save it  :D

Its been expensive and slowly, but Iam building it how i want it to be, guess good things take time :)

The pictures are some from the start, to This point.

Hope you like it ( so far)

Your images are too large for the Forum. You need to reduce them to below 200kb and size them at 800 x 600 pixels and they will fiit perfectly  :P :P

For example that last one you uploaded was (1975.61 kB and 3264 x 2448 pixels in size )
Just my 250 special left now !

Hi greenhorn,
Nice job you have going on there and at least with the massive pictures I got a good look at your frame paint  ;)
What is the exact finish of your powder coating? I was going to do a satin black finish on my TZR frame and your frame looks just like what I was imagining.
Cheers,

Major setback.. >:(

I thought i was about to have a Rolling frame for the first time this weekend
Started to prep to Assemble my front end

But something is just wrong...
The fork stanchion would not go in all the Way smoothly, but as the picture shows,stops/only goes in some of the Way.. is the lower Fork tube bent?? ( its Completely clean and even 'polished' just to try another option with a homemade setup.
It does it with both lower legs..

The fork stanchion is brand new from yambits. And oh Yeah, i opened the other package and discpvered they sent one gold anodized and one Chrome ( i want Them Chrome) Hopefully they will send a new free of charge.

Anyone who Can help me with this ?
The fork stanchion measures 34mm and are the rd400 legs.

And Anyone know where to get new seals for it?( picture of broken seal)

Hi Greenhorn,
I did have a similar problem with an RD200 which had been crashed. The fork slider/lower section looked 100%, but the forks would stick down in operation, and jam in the compressed position.
I ended up swapping the slider with a spare one, and it was fine, so there must have been some damage not obviously visible.
Regards,
Chris

So - status quo

Just recieved all balls tapered bearings incl dust ring
And got my custom yoke back from Treatment

I dont know how it holds up - but looks pretty Damn cool in Real life
Glas bead and black anodized.
Fits the frame colour very Well.

Awaiting my Chrome fork stanchion from yambits
Still looking for a new set of lower fork legs - to be powdercoated black and then Assembled.
Anyone ?:)
