Have You Seen My RD?? / Re: 1978 RD400c Blue YHP919S

Good to hear you are getting there with the faults.
It’s all part of the joy of riding classic motorcycles, I have a leaking fork seal on my 400c, but it has done over 800 miles this Summer, so all in all, it’s running well.
Let me know when you are on the road.

Brake binding problem sorted.
Next issue is a leaking clutch cover gasket, so new one ordered which will hopefully arrive this week.

Forum and Membership Issues / Re: I'm a member but computer says no.

Hi.
I am still unable to access members areas.
Yamalam74..
That's because your membership expired on the 16th August so you were relegated to forum member only.  You renewed on the 21st of September which I would not get notification of until the 22nd (Saturday). Membership and forum status renewal are not linked so your forum membership status  either way is a manual process actioned by me. Please bear in mind we are all volunteers here and do this is our spare time and may I point out that if you had renewed before your membership expired we would not be having this problem .  I usually work weekends and often am not at home. I don't have or want a smartphone with internet access and generally end up looking at my mails in he early hours of the morning as I am doing now. I hope everyone reads this and exercises a bit of patience if they choose to let their membership expire before renewing both of which requires extra work from me.  Sorry if this reply is a bit OTT but this is a constant pain of contention for me.

Thanks  Paul

Shouldn't the spring on the brake lever be responsible for returning the brake lever, and not rely on the MC to push it back? At least, I'm sure that's how my 400 is set up.

I too have suffered the rear brake sticking on .I rebuilt the rear master cylinder with a yambits kit but cant remember if I used there spring or the original.Three times now Ive had it apart including the reservoir. Its still slow to return the master cylinder piston and no chance off returning the brake lever .I thought I had cracked it last time because I found minute crud in the cylinder ,the small holes are clear, could it be the spring ???. I bought the kit from yambits years ago when there was a discussion on here about the spring not being up to the job??.I notice in the YPVS models there's a substantial external return spring

Yes i'd be interested in them for my 1974 RD200 . I live in Coventry so if you want someone to talk to them and give them a sample airbox I could help
