History check
« on: February 05, 2018, 07:36:14 AM »
Well it looks like the DVLA has changed the criteria on giving out previous owners, just after the names of previous owners for a history file is no longer acceptable! apparently these changes came in when the no MOT for older vehicles announcement!

Someone else also commented a few weeks back that they were unable to get the history of their vehicle :(

Yes Motty I tried to get the history on my RD400F and on a VW Golf GTI. No success. This has recently been discussed on the LC forum as members on there also were refused by DVLA.
However, others said the application cannot have been creative enough, but they did not say what they put.

I assume they must have had a tidal surge of requests as word spread what great info you could get for a fiver.
As you say I dont think a simple request for prior owner information is enough anymore.

I have one that’s in for processing at the moment and no knock back after 3 weeks so fingers crossed it’s in the queue. I heard that some just had their cheques sent back by return.

Rev 'em till they rattle

I have to spend the day in a classroom at DVLA in Swansea next week. I will bring it up and see what they say. It may pass the time a bit...

It would be good to hear what they say Paul
I did the history check on the "A" quite a few years ago and the old log books were interesting (one owner owned it for quite a few years without actually registering in their name)

Did a £5 history check on a 350 I had many years ago.

Result came back - it had about 15 owners when it got to me.

I got photocopies of all change of ownership V5's and all the road tax applications.

First owner had the address as a office building at a power station?

First few years it was in Norfolk area then went to south west.

Had a lady owner who sold it then bought it back a year later

I got my money worth from that fiver, must have took a fair while to copy it all

Got a letter back from DVLA last week turning down my request and returning the cheque.
Seems like it has to be for criminal related reasons these days.
Shame as was looking forward to a bike history lesson.
